Hello all!! This is Suven Jagtiani writing this blog. I have just entered my 9th grade and was feared by my seniors who told me that don't you know that 9th is more tougher than the 10th grade. I was surprised by the statement and I told "WHAT?" Because I see students so much tensed during their 10th's and these seniors of mine are scaring in my 9th.
So then, after gathering all my might I decided to write this blog on why do school studies seem to become tougher in 9th grade.......
What is the difference in "THE 9th GRADE" ?
When I entered 9th grade I thought that it was much more different that the previous standards. So, let's see that what were the differences:
- What ever I learnt was more application based rather the factual based information that I got in previous standards.
- Rote learning will have no place in your study in 9th grade[Sorry, you rote learners,no place for you]
- I am a student studying in the SSC board and the kinds of books I had till 8th standard were like ladyfingers but now in 9th grade they seem to be as fat as cucumbers!! So this change was not so big for me but a lot bigger for other mediocre students.
- Questions asked in the textbook from 9th grade do not have their answers directly copy-pasted from the textbook like previous grades. [So,you may have to find answers from the internet rather the textbook]
Why can't students cope-up with all these changes??
It is all due to the spoon feeding that we get from the teachers in the lower standards. Till 9th grade, chapters contain just factual information which can be easily rote-learned by students[But still I don't understand why students join classes even for rote learning in lower classes!!] Teachers gave the copy pasted answers from the textbook to the children and students just copied the answers in the note books.
So how and why do you think that students will be able to adapt these changes???
All this spoon feeding happens mainly in our so called 'INDIAN BOARDS' especially the SSC board. Not only spoon feeding, the level of questions asked, the kind of content in textbooks also make a lot of difference.[That's why I like the International boards so much because they are so much different from our Indian boards in these aspects]
Conclusion time:
So, the conclusion of this whole discussion must be that students feel that studies of 9th grade are tougher because they are not well prepared for the changes. It must be the responsibility of our whole education system to not burst bombs on the students in 9th grade and they must make sure to make a conducive atmosphere for the students.
So students make sure that you prepare yourself before coming in 9th std.,because from now you have to be independent and no spoon feeding must be expected...For preparing for the above changes, competitive exams must be given regularly and for that you must know that why competitive exams are required??
THANK YOU FOR READING!!!
